Reaching Muslims in Ghana

May 17 2008

Ghana is typical of the other western African nations in that the south is very 'Christian' but the further north you go, the more you encounter Islam. Most Christian visitors to the nation never move much beyond the coastal belt, with perhaps Kumasi being the furthest point north that would see regular ministry visits. But of course, Ghana exists beyond the second largest city, and that's the challenge for the church and for those who have a burden for the nation.

We have been working with pastor Osmond Owusu for some years and one particular ministry that we support financially is the team that works specifically in the north of the country amongst the Muslim people. Osmond himself is a converted Muslim and apart from having a great testimony, he is able to use that experience to good effect. In fact, all the people on the team are also converts.

Working directly in the Islamic world can be very dangerous at times and so although we know the names of the team and the villages and towns that they work in, we never publish that information, for obvious reasons. We have some field reports to publish over the next couple of weeks, so as they say, watch this space!
