The reality of missions work

November 13 2008

We received the following report from Osmond Owusu in Ghana, which shows the reality of what it is like working in Africa. Yes, there are some great things happening but it's also hard work and very often frustrating.

'I wish to thank you all for the money sent to us just resently. The money came at the right time because we were about to embark on our usual evangelistic rural work which the need for a means of transport was in die need. After negotiating with a transport owner for a reduced fare to no avail, we decided to repair our own bus which had broken down for the past six months. By the grace of God we were able to spend about four hundred pounds equivalent to put the bus on the road again.

We left Accra to Somanya but a journey which should have taken us two hours, almost took the whole day as one of the pipes which the brake fluid passes through had broken and all the fluid had finished. We were descending a hill when the driver realised the brake was not functioning but God saved us from eminent accident. Gradually we got to Somanya but we were so tired that we went straight to bed.

Saturday morning we decided to fast and pray till 6pm before the film show and God answered our prayer with 24 people making decisions to walk with the LORD. On sunday morning we took all the 24 souls to the Church Of Pentecost and immediately after the service, they were all taken to the river side and were baptised in water. In the evening, we went to the Muslim community and showed the film AMAZING GRACE and it moved some of the people but none came forward to make a decision. But later the next day while we were about to come back to Accra, we had six Muslims coming to accept Jesus. They are scared to let people know of their new found faith so we are planning to save and relocate them so that they can go to school.

We are so grateful to you all for your support and we pray that S.I.C.M will for a long time continue this noble work.'
