Our last official week in Malawi was rather manic trying to fit everything in but it went well, our farewell meal was a great success, only ended up having to cook for 12 people rather than 16, but preparing 6 different dishes was a bit confusing, for those of you who know their East African food I made rice, nsema (ugali), beans, greens, eggs, salad and soup. While Rory made beef stew and Raymond made fried chicken. Was stressful and we were running on Malawian time but everyone enjoyed it and appreciated us saying thank you so it was worth it. There was a bit of hilarity when as is custom in Malawi the woman washes everyone’s hands with a jug of water, so I did, and then there were giggles and calls for photos, which I wasn’t expecting, and made me rather uncomfortable, but it made them smile so fair enough.
