Swaziland project letter

Friday December 31 2010

On behalf of ASB, I would like to express my sincere appreciation for your assistance with the water project. As you may know we experienced numerous difficulties, first with cashing of the cheque, furthermore the borehole idea had to be discarded as there is no underground water in the area where we are.

With the assistance of Ronas, we finally found water 400m away in the valley. We bought a water engine that is able to pump water from the valley and pipes to channel the water up the mountain which we then filled into a 5000l tank. We have managed to buy two 5000l tanks and with time we hope to obtain two more. Unfortunately the platform on which the tanks have to be mounted could not be completed on time due to the rains which caused a halt in the building works.

At the moment in the fields we have maize which depends on rain water; when this has been harvested, we plan to plant beans and other vegetables which depend on the water drawn from the valley. The vegetables will supplement the food that is given to the children. The caregivers and the children are involved in the planting and maintenance of the gardens which gives them a sense of achievement and fulfillment, when it is time to harvest and they can see the fruit of their labour.

Thank you again, may God richly bless you.

Kind regards,

Nomsa Lukhele
