Web site update

July 13 2007

Regular visitors to the site will be aware that the layout is very different to what you have previously been used to; in fact sicm.org has undergone not only a makeover but a complete transformation. The web site was originally designed for us and launched in the year 2000, but as time has moved on we have increasingly felt that we needed to not only update but to redesign the whole site. When we first hit the world wide web, we were complete novices as far as the whole computer scene was concerned. And whilst we would hardly claim to be experts now, at least we have moved on in our basic understanding of things.

The bottom line is that we can now do a lot more in-house and so have a greater flexibility and control over things. This means that the site has been designed by ourselves and will also be updated far more regularly than the old style allowed us. The home page has changed completely and as well as links to pages which will in effect form an on-line brochure, there will also be regular news updates, keeping people informed as to what is happening on an ongoing basis.

The site is built on our corporate colours of blue and yellow, which we adopted some time back. The blue is a colour which speaks of reliability, security and familiarity. SICM is built on solid evangelical values and doctrines and this is reflected in the choice of traditional royal blue. However, we also want to be innovative, forward-thinking and contemporary, hence the yellow which indicates freshness and modernity. By combining the two, we are setting our stall out as to not only where we are but also where we are heading.

The 'hands' logo at the head of each page is an indicator that we are an 'hands-on' organisation. SICM is not just about preaching the gospel but particularly as we work mainly in Africa, it is about ministry to the whole man - body, soul and spirit. As a consequence the web site updates will feature not only news of outreach campaigns but also projects that will benefit people in a very practical way.

Each page features our philosophy as far as the day-to-day running of SICM is concerned. 'Spirit led and organisationally driven' sums up where our thinking lies in terms of God's sovereignty and man's responsibility. Yes, as an evangelical organisation we are very much dependant upon God for our leading, but that can never be an excuse for sitting back and doing nothing.

And finally, this is the first day of the new site, so bear with us as we bring it up to scratch. We will be working over the weekend to ensure that by Monday the site will at least be heading in the direction that we want it to as far as presentation and content is concerned.
