Report from Nakapiripirit in Uganda

July 14 2007

Levi Elonga, our National Representative for Uganda, reports on the recent mission trip to the district of Nakapiripirit in the north of the country. Levi was accompanied by four others on the team, Ketty (his wife), Robert, William and Peter and they were hosted by Rev. Calvin Eretu who heads up the fellowship of churches in that area. Levi reports that they had a fantastic time and were kept extremely busy with church meetings, teaching seminars for leaders, open air preaching and meetings for women. Due to careful planning, each team member was utilised to the full and so a lot of ground was covered.

The leaders' seminars went very well and 250 pastors and leaders attended for training. Working with African leaders is a major part of SICM's ministry within the continent and so we are always pleased when we get positive reports back from conferences that have been organised. A total of 8 local churches were visited by the team during their stay there, and Levi comments that '...they were receptive to the Word of God and many were revived in their Christian walk. It was amazing to see tears flow as God convicted, healed and restored'.

The gospel preaching meetings were conducted on 5 different sites and the result was that a total of 2,400 souls came to the Lord. The preaching of the Word combined with the distribution of Christian literature meant that everything went very well. We send papers from the organisation SOON to Levi in Uganda, which he uses in situations like this to reach people with the gospel. The ladies' meetings were taken by Levi's wife, where she shared about family life and other such related topics. There were 150 in attendance and there were examples of family reconciliation that took place as a result.

Levi ended his report with a message of thanks to all those that support the work of SICM, thus enabling him to do what he does. 'God is good and we thank SICM for the prayers, finances etc that really enabled us to reach the district of Nakapiripirit for Christ. A BIG THANK YOU to everyone for standing with us in the great harvest of souls and equipping of the church in the nation of Uganda. You are doing a commendable work and SICM is greatly appreciated in the nation.'
