You may never go to Africa - but you can still get involved

July 19 2007

You may never go to Africa - but you can still get involved. SICM's Director Stewart Bloor speaks in a number of churches and today was at one of our local Baptist fellowships - Providence in Coseley. Some time back, whilst taking a Sunday service he shared about the construction of a well that SICM had been involved with in Togo. It was just a general sharing, but Arthur Walters, one of the elders, felt that God was speaking to him specifically about this.

The bottom line is that the church committed to the building of a well in a Ugandan village. However, the finances came in so quickly that this became two wells, so another village was blessed. The construction went smoothly and soon the people no longer had a four mile walk to collect dirty water from a swamp, but instead had fresh water on their doorstep.

The church at Providence is not a young one, with many members in their 70's. They may never go to Africa, but because of their sacrificial giving, they have certainly made a difference and touched the lives of many. You can check out more on the well project by clicking here but bear in mind that at the time of writing the site is still developing and that page is currently one under construction.
