Sewing machines for Uganda testimony September 29 2007
When working in Africa, you can't simply preach and ignore the needs of the people that you work amongst. Therefore we get involved in a number of practical projects, including supplying sewing machines to ladies in Uganda, so that they can establish small businesses. Working through our National Representative, Levi Elonga, we are able to make a difference in the lives of people in rural communities, who every day have to endure extreme poverty and hardship. The following is an extract from a letter recently received from a lady (Agwang Florence) who was supplied with a sewing machine. 'I am so grateful to you all for the love, concern and care that you have shown me and my family. I was in a desperate situation and was struggling with poverty, but since I have had the sewing machine, my standard of living has really improved. I get money every week from the tailoring work I do and with that I am able to pay school fees for my children. I can also meet other domestic needs in the family as well as help people in need around where I live.'
