As an organisation, we are not ashamed to state that we are Christian, because our faith in Christ is the driving force behind what we do. However, we aren't narrow-minded in the sense that all we do is preach, preach and more preach! You cannot work in an environment such as rural Africa without getting involved in the lives of people beyond words - even if those words are the words of life in Christ. And that's why we take a holistic approach to ministry - doing what we can to raise the quality of life for people, and this of course is a great way of demonstrating faith in action. One of our local magazines, Village Voice, has just run an article on the work we do, which is copied below. 'Sedgley International Christian Ministries currently has a number of opportunities for people to work in Africa on projects to help bring basic amenities to villages. Over coming months there will be groups going out to Tanzania, Uganda and Ghana. SICM has already been involved in several projects to date. Our photograph on the right shows an orphanage under construction in Ghana which has now been completed, and youngsters are now benefitting from the safety and security that it provides. Other activities co-ordinated by the Mission includes the creation of a number of wells in small villages in Uganda. The sinking of a well to provide fresh, clean water to a village costs around £600 - and means that no longer do the elderly and very young have to walk miles every day for their water. A number of local churches have sponsored the construction of wells in individual villages - and the fundraising efforts made by the Providence Baptist Church in Coseley proved so successful that they sponsored not one but two wells. Our picture on the left shows some of the villagers using the well that has been provided through the sponsorship of Providence Baptist Church.
