If you are in England for example, as we are, it can be easy to miss the point that Christians in Africa still need to reach out cross-culturally in their own region. And that when they do they are as much 'on the mission field' as when we set off in a plane and head for a destination several thousand miles away. That's why we have given this short news piece the title we have, because as Levi is currently in Western Uganda, that is as much cross-cultural mission as if an Englishman travelled to Poland. Levi reports that all is going well, and the eight on the team are working with the local churches and everything is really encouraging. Most towns will have access to the Internet and that is a great means of communication between base and those on the ground. In the early days of SICM (and we are not talking that long ago) apart from the occasional very expensive telephone call, it was all down to letter writing to keep in touch. We live in good times and fully appreciate the benefits of technology. Spirit led and organisationally driven |
