opportunities
Below are
a list of current opportunities available with SICM. In the case of
the African short-term mission ones, the cost involves travel to and
from the UK for British citizens, with Birmingham airport being our
base in the country. The placements include everything from flights
to visas, food and accommodation whilst over there and medical and travel
cover. Obviously the cost of flights makes up the bulk of the initial
price, but extended weeks bring the cost per week down considerably.
If you are outside the UK then contact us (details on home page) and
we can look at the options available.
As an organisation
that is committed to the local church, we do expect that anyone applying
for a placement is also in fellowship themselves. Certainly when it
comes to overseas opportunities, we do ask that those who apply do so
with the blessing of their own church leadership. We do have a selection
process and reserve the right to refuse anyone access to an opportunity.
African
short-term missions
 |
Tanzania
February
2008 onwards, this is an ongoing opportunity due to
us having people on the ground in Tanzania. And because of that
there is a total flexibility as to length of stay and also when
you decide to travel. Based with Robert Chidundo and James Colton,
this is an ideal opportunity for someone who feels called to longer
term missions work but needs to visit the field first to 'test
the water'. And because of the set-up we have there, this is perfect
for those who have never been to Africa before. Suitable for a
small group travelling from the same church. Cost: £1,100
for up to two weeks, with every additional week being a further
£100.

Uganda
January
2008 onwards. Based with our National Representative
for the nation, Levi Elonga, this opportunity is ideal for someone
who is already in some form of basic ministry within their own
church. There will be church meetings, outreach meetings and leadership
seminars, with the level of involvement pitched at your own experience.
It would be perfect for a Pastor who wants to take along someone
that he is mentoring in order to give them an exposure to the
great things that are happening in Africa. Cost: £1,100
for up to two weeks, with every additional week being a further
£100.

James
Colton support team
 |
Tanzania
James
Colton is our missionary in Tanzania, and there is an opportunity
to join his support team, and in particular the
letter writing team. There is a minimal amount
of work involved, just the writing of a letter once a month. It
is an opportunity to be a blessing and get involved in missions
without even leaving your living room, other than to post the
letter you have written! You can read more about what it is all
about and how you can be a part of it by clicking
here and following the links within the pieces. |

Sevens Football League
|
England
We run
a local football league, which has a designated website that can
be reached by clicking here.
The league is currently in its fourth season and as part of our
ongoing development and planning, we are looking to establish
a committee in order that we may continue to increase our efficiency
and organisation. If you are interested in coming on board, then
you can find out more details here.
