Vision
means...to have an objective, to know where we are going
Without objectives we simply turn up and hope
that things happen
The Holy Spirit runs the church' is often just an excuse for doing nothing,
whilst trying to sound spiritual at the same time.
Without a vision we often end up going round in circles and using up
energy but not accomplishing anything.
Objectives keep us focused on fulfilling the vision
Luke 10: 38-42. In particular, verse 40 'But Martha was distracted by
all the preparations that had to be made'
Without objectives we can easily get side-tracked. It's not always bad
or negative things that can divert us either. Martha was not doing wrong
as such, but she was distracted.
Written objectives keep us on track
Exodus 17:14 ˜Then the Lord said to Moses, Write this on a scroll as
something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it'
Joshua 18:8 'As the men started out on their way to map out the land,
Joshua instructed them, Go and make a survey of the land and write for
me a description of it'
Habakkuk 2:2 'Then the Lord replied, Write down the revelation and make
it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it'
Unless vision is written down it is easy to lose sight of where we are
heading.
