The Book of Joshua...
Joshua 1. The land was theirs but they still had to take it. The balance between God's sovereignty and man's responsibility.
Joshua 2. God caused some to panic and live in fear, others to have boldness and confidence. It all depends on which side of the line we live.
Joshua 3. The Jordan only parted when they stepped out. Faith is the ignition to spark off the miracle.
Joshua 4. Memories can fade and events get lost to future generations. Physical reminders help to keep the connection with the past.
Joshua 5. Now they could grow crops, manna stopped. Don't expect to be spoon fed like a baby all your life. Grow up and take responsibility.
Joshua 6. Take Jericho in an unusual way. Sometimes we need to not question just be obedient. Make sure it's God though or we'll end up silly.
Joshua 7. One man's rebellion cost people dearly. Watch out for troublemakers, above all don't become one yourself. That's the most important.
Joshua 8. To take Ai they had a plan. If you face a formidable obstacle in your life then need to think it through and work out a plan also.
Joshua 9. Human wisdom is good but sometimes it can be lacking. The divine will do what the mortal can't. Never leave God out of the equation.
Joshua 10. Five kings v The King Of Kings. No contest. It's not about quantity but quality.
Joshua 11. We need to be merciless with destructive things in our lives. If we don't then they will eventually destroy us.
Joshua 12. A total of 31 kings fell. When you're in the right place you don't have to worry about the opposition. Let them worry about you.
Joshua 13. Joshua was an old man but there was still work to do. Don't develop a retirement mentality. Feet up just waiting to die.
Joshua 14. Caleb: 85 years old, full of enthusiasm, positive attitude, still hungry for life. Caleb: role model.
Joshua 15. Whether boundaries or lists of towns, everything is detailed and precise. The more information we have the better. Communication.
Joshua 16. Be careful when we allow negatives to reside in our lives. Even if we try to subdue them they will waiting for their opportunity.
Joshua 17. The land was theirs but they still had to clear it. Faith doesn't clear trees. Hard work does though.
Joshua 18. If something to do today, then do it today. Procrastination is the enemy of a fulfilled life.
Joshua 19. The land has been divided and allocated. Planning and order is always preferable to a free-for-all where the loudest get the best.
Joshua 20. It's not always what we do but the motive and intention behind it. That's why we can't judge actions alone.
Joshua 21. Inheritance was theirs but they still came forward to claim it. Stand on the promise but sometimes we have take a few steps as well.
Joshua 22. So easy to misinterpret situations. Make sure you know the full facts -not opinions and hearsay- before you go wading in.
Joshua 23. Sometimes compromise is important. Other times it's destructive. Each situation to be treated individually. But get it right.
Joshua 24. Looking back gives insight to where we are in the present. And it can determine where we go in the future. It's good to reflect.
