Like a Mighty Tortoise - A History of the Diocese of Manchester (bc1-165)

Written and Illustrated by The Rev'd Arthur J. Dobb.

Manchester and its neighbouring towns have had churches almost as long as the Christian faith has been in England yet, to a casual glance, it may appear that the story of Christianity was lived out in little over a hundred years and coincided with the cotton-boom of the 19th and the early 20th centuries. This book is an attempt to capture, by word and picture the varying fortunes of the Christian Church down the centuries and provide a record of those many churches which have been demolished and whose memory seems destined for oblivion.

The book is in good condition. Hardback; the dust cover is slightly stained in a few areas on the front.
