Missions

TFC is not an inward-looking church and so our vision is not just for the local area but also to the wider world in which we live. We are in an excellent position as far as missions is concerned due to the fact that Stewart Bloor, as well as being church leader, is also the director of Sedgley International Christian Ministries (SICM), a para-church missions organisation. You can read more about SICM by clicking here.

TFC and SICM are two totally separate entities  -both are registered charities in their own right - and there is no conflict of interests. We support SICM in the way that we do any other organisation and get encouraged by the feedback that we receive, but of course we are very encouraged by the fact that we do have people within the church who are missions-minded and so involved in overseas work. You can keep up-to-date with the latest news from SICM via the home page or going directly to the news page.

As well as general support for SICM, below are some specific people / projects that we support as a church. They are listed in order of time that we have supported them.

James Colton.....James is an SICM missionary based in Tanzania. You can read all about James via his page on the SICM site. In addition regular news updates are given so that people can keep in touch with James and the work that he does.

During James' last furlough (February 2008) we hosted him and Silas Mkumbu at TFC where we had an 'African evening with a Tanzanian flavour' and you can check out the videos we did via our YouTube account. Type 'James Colton' or 'Silas Mkumbu' into the search engine.

Child sponsorship.....We sponsor a child in a Moldovan orphanage by the name of Aliona. Although it is within the boundaries of Europe, Moldova has many problems and life is hard for many of its inhabitants as it still comes to grips with adapting to a post-Communism world. And often the first to suffer are children, particularly those from broken homes or very poor families.

Through our monthly support we are able to provide food, clothing and education for Aliona, as well as a safe place to live. We receive a card every Christmas and Easter and our own Sunday School write to her on a regular basis.

Silas Mkumbu.....Silas was first introduced to the church in February 2008 when he accompanied James Colton on his furlough. Silas is a Tanzanian pastor and works very closely with James, doing a great work out there.

We started to support Silas financially following his time with us at church.
