Practical
projects
We do take a holistic approach to our work, and
so consequently, over time, we have been involved in a number
of practical projects. These have been varied and diverse, and
range from major, on-going projects, such as the construction
of an orphanage in Ghana (see photograph below) to smaller one-off
involvement, such as the purchase of oxen in Uganda to assist
the rural farmers. It is impossible to work effectively in the
Developing World without getting involved practically in the lives
of the people.
Our
current major practical project is the construction of a school
complex in Kibaha, Tanzania. This is a project in honour of SICM
missionary Anneli Colton, who served the Lord in that nation prior
to her 'homecalling' in the early part of 2003. The project is
developing nicely and is on target.
Long-term opportunities
The natural development of the short term teams
was to place people on the mission field longer term. We find
that although a short term team does a great job, there is often
the need for something more substantial. Hence the programme of
longer term workers, which we began to implement from October
2000.
Our first missionaries were David
and Elspeth Masson, who spent time in Ghana and Jane
Wilby who worked in Uganda. Although they have now finished
their placements, you can read a selection of their respective
newsletter reports, which are in archive, by clicking on David
and Elspeth Masson or Jane
Wilby.
James
and Anneli Colton have also been in Africa (Tanzania)
as long-term workers, and the development of their work can be
seen by accessing their reports. Very sadly, Anneli went home
to be with the Lord, but James returned to Tanzania where he is
continuing the work they began together.

If you are interested in a long term placement, we currently have
opportunities in a number of nations, mainly Africa. We have a
series of booklets (1-3) that deal with the various processes
to becoming an SICM missionary. If you're interested, contact
us and we will send you booklet number 1, which covers
the preliminary stages.
On-lineFC
We have a bulletin board ministry which was launched in January
2003. Aimed originally at the football fan (FC stands for Football
Christians) it also has Spiritual and General categories and so
actually caters for a wide variety of taste.

The board is moderated by Stewart Bloor.
On-lineFC
was featured in June 2003 on the Trans-World Radio programme 'Good
Morning UK' with Presenter Alan Bain, which is an hour long show.
The broadcast was live from the studio in Bath, and to make it
authentic, we wore our respective team shirts. Apart from Martyn
Ricketts that is, who although a regular contributor to On-lineFC,
is not actually a football fan!

Supporting
Overseas Workers programme (SOW)
As much of our work is conducted in the Third World,
we encounter extreme poverty. The situation of many Pastors, particularly
in rural areas, is that they really struggle. By raising support,
we are able to help them in a very practical way.
We
currently support Pastors from Ghana, Kenya and Uganda etc. If
you or your Church would like to support an overseas Christian
worker get in touch with us. It doesn't have to be for a large
amount of money each month. In return we'll keep you updated with
regular reports. Click
here for
information on some of the Pastors we raise support for.
